What it funds
The voucher covers the staff and material costs a recognized research institution, anywhere in the world, incurs on a study the company commissions: idea and concept studies, analysis of innovation and market potential, technical plausibility checks, prototype support. The topic is open, so the digital link exists only when the study concerns software, data or artificial intelligence. The rules are in the Amt für Volkswirtschaft guideline.
Requirements and what is left out
- Be based in Liechtenstein and active there for at least three years, usually shown by a trade license.
- Expect the project to add value in Liechtenstein, described in the application itself.
- Have no outstanding AHV or tax debts and no insolvency proceedings.
- No close tie with the institution, for example one of its researchers also working at the company.
- One voucher per year per company or group, and only once with the same institution.
- Costs incurred before approval, travel, shipping and insurance are excluded.
- The grant falls under de minimis: other aid received must be declared.
How to apply
- Agree the study and its estimated costs with the research institution.
- Send the application to the Amt für Volkswirtschaft with the required forms and documents.
- Start the project only after the grant is confirmed.
- At the end, submit the scientific and financial reports: payment goes to the institution.
What this budget builds
Here the budget buys evidence, and I frame it this way: one precise technical question, for example whether the production data can support a predictive model, and an institution that tests it with method. The result I ask for is a measurable verdict and a list of next steps, so the study becomes the specification of the real project.
This entry is informational and is not advice: I do not handle grant applications, and before committing to a purchase it is worth reading the official source above or talking to whoever files the application.
